Judy Roitman (Zen Master Bon Hae) grew up in New York city, lived in the San Francisco Bay area after college, and then lived in the Boston area where she began practice at the Cambridge Zen Center in 1976. She moved to Lawrence Kansas in 1978. Zen Master Seung Sahn came to Lawrence to perform her wedding to Stan Lombardo (now Zen Master Hae Kwang) about 9 months later and in short order the Kansas Zen Center was born. She received inka in 1998 and transmission in 2013 and is the guiding teacher of Kansas Zen Center.
