Cleaning Up the Defilements of the Mind with Shaila Catherine

Shaila Catherine began meditating in 1980 and quickly fell in love with the practice of silent contemplation accumulating over nine years of silent retreat experience. The wisdom gained through direct encounter with the dhamma along with the guidance of teachers from India, Thailand, Nepal, and the West allowed Shaila the opportunity to deeply explore meditation, including the absorption states of jhana and insight practices. She has authored two books, Focused and Fearless and Wisdom Wide and Deep, which introduce and guidex practitioners to develop powerful concentration techniques supporting liberating insight. She is the founder and principle teacher at Insight Meditation South Bay in California and the creator of Bodhi Courses, an online Buddhist classroom.
